Worship of Taal has become uncommon in Averland in recent years. After a brief flirtation with the Ottilian Emperors, the province of Averland aligned with the League of Ostermark during the troubled year of 2270 and the Krugenheim affair. In an effort to curry favour with their new ally (or, knowing Averlanders, perhaps to spite their old one), Countess Kohler has suppressed worship of Taal in her lands. This has proved a popular move, as many in the province have been whipped into a Sigmarite fervour by priests of neighbouring Reikland. Already, numerous Taalite heretics have been rooted out in the Stir borderlands. The tale of the purging of the 'corrupted' knightly order of the Bitten Ram has become a firm favorite in the taverns of the province.
Amidst this discontent, Countess Kohler has spotted an opportunity to rid herself of a thorn in her side. The Taalite Abbey of the Slaughtered Stag sits on the River Aver, deep in the forests twenty miles West of Streissen. Its lands are immense, and the abbey imposes a heavy toll on the easy trade route from Averheim through to Nuln.

I was really pleased with the story this time, everyone got stuck into the themes of religious confliect and intrigue, and we met some incredbile new characters such as VON SPLEEN! Many people said this was their favourite event yet.
Listen to the prequel roleplay of a fateful expedition to the Abbey here.
And then read on to find out who managed to claim the Abbey in the name of their diety/liege/master!
